week 1 Vanity Search - google myself....

Vanity search -  I had to check my presence online by conducting an online search of myself.  The task was simple, google yourself adding quotations to your name and see the  results then note them.  The best part is that I know I have the same name as a "bachatero" artist from Dominican republic so I know that this artists was going to pop up immediately along with everything that involves him. Spotify, record company.. etc etc....  The more I dug , I also found that someone with my name was incarcerated for 16 years (wrongful conviction). Yet, there still nothing about me.  Which in a way is good. "Luis Vargas" As I kept changing now adding "Luis G Vargas" middle name initial. Nothing yet "Luis Gerardo Vargas" nothing yet.  I added "Luis Gerardo Vargas Estrada" which is my full name and that found my old facebook page.  I think I did a great job not exposing myself too much on the internet with my name.  I was always very protective o...

Week 2 Twitter: to the extend of 280 characters

  Not a lot of people that I know use twitter. The ones that do tend to say that it is a fast way of accessing information but at times it seems that they only see the information that agrees with theirs.  In this episode of "Oh man, how can we use this to teach?" we will talk about Twitter. For those of you who know twitter, great! You may now leave and come back later... or if you would like to know what "grinds my gears" in a good way about it please stay. Twitter is a platform where you can type up to 280 characters (it used to be 140) and with other tools such as Hashtags (the number key or pound... if you are young chances are you don't know what I'm talking about, just keep calling it hashtag)  and other tools like keywords and tags you could pretty much locate any information being broadcasted live or in the past.   How is this helpful?
