edtech - creative tools and their uses

The apps that I’m exploring for my students to use creatively are as follows:

Note: i use google apps because they have no restrictions in my district and students grade level. If I had an older audience I would focus my attention to other tools but these are the ones I have quick access with  and are an asset to my teaching tools. Let me know if you find this info interesting or if you have questions on how to integrate it to a lesson, and we can work it out. TPACK, SAMR STYLE!!!

Lettuce begin! I'm very punny! I know. ..

First tool.

Google Slides:

The main reason is because I teach 4th grade and they have direct access to it.  Also it keeps their privacy under the district's domain.  There will be no issues, since they will not be able to share their work to anyone outside of the district.

What I like about the google docs is that you can easily make a presentation and add it to your google site. That is another google app.  You can create a collaboration activity and make students share a google slide with their group too.  There isn’t anything that I don’t like about this app.  It is very similar to powerpoint and all the presentations are saved directly to their google drive.

You can easily add youtube videos, pictures you can find on google images and tables.

It is a very complete presentation tool.  When sharing it you can share it to people for commenting so  you can improve the presentation or give them editor control.  Good for collaborative work.

Now, if you are sharing this presentation it is easier to share it within the google apps realm but if you need to share it somewhere else it is better if you embed it as a code.

Iframe generator allows you to that!  In I frame you can just paste the link and it gives you a code that you can paste on your page code < here> and boom! You got whatever you need embedded on a page. That is, if the page allows html or css code.

You can create a code for almost anything that you want to share. By default it would create an easy to see code and once they are taught where to paste it they will also learn the power of coding too.  The affordance of an iframe is very good. Everything is on one page and it tells you where to paste and preview what you are going to do.

Another creative tool and note: this cannot be used by elementary school kids due to privacy issues. Youtube video editing tools.

Only the ones with the link to my video will be able to watch it. This is a great privacy practice for students.  No onto the tools.

Under your video you got the editor tool. Here you can edit the videos audio and if needed chop it up to better fit your work.

its affordance makes it easy to edit, trim and view as you make your changes.

This last creative tool that I’m currently working with is called Jamboard

On jamboard students can set a background for example a text and they can create notes collaboratively. Like this. First setting the background

I’ve added a paragraph and students can collaboratively find the main idea and details.

The more I learn about these apps and their potential the more I can see myself teaching to a redefinition level. They will be able to create jamboards and add text, illustrate and their picture. The same procedure to sharing applies, they share and students can either view it or be able to modify it.  Great tool for collaborative discussion

Also discuss in a group because it has that option of using the laser so they can point at information they want their group to look at and discuss it.  Jamboard tools are all on the screen there aren’t any tools menus.  It’s affordance makes it easier for students to access it’s tools and capabilities to insert all types of media like the pic I posted on top in seconds.
